I’m David Thacker, owner and handler of Rivers Edge Tracking. Based in Madrid, Iowa, we help hunters recover wounded deer across most of the state. With five years of tracking experience, we understand the uncertainty that comes when a blood trail fades—and the importance of making the right next move.

Our work starts with your first call. We listen to the details of your hunt, discuss the shot and sign you’ve found, and offer honest guidance before heading into the field. Every track is different, and we approach each one with determination, clear communication, and respect for the deer and the land.

Meet Our Tracking Dogs

Ryder

Ryder is our black Labrador Retriever entering her fifth year of tracking. An American Blood Trackers Association Started-certified tracking dog, she brings experience, drive, and a strong nose to our team. She has helped hunters through challenging recoveries and continues to be a trusted partner on the trail.

Oakley

Oakley is our Bloodhound, bringing a powerful nose and plenty of determination. Still early in her tracking career, she’s off to a great start and continues to build experience with every trail. We’re excited to watch her develop as she puts her natural tracking instincts to work.

Recovering a deer means more than finding the end of a trail. It means helping a hunter honor the animal and follow through on the effort they started. While no recovery can be guaranteed, we promise an honest assessment and our best effort on every track.
